Discover Our Story

The Union of Multicultural Australian Association (UMCA) was founded on a simple belief: communities are stronger together. Through culture, arts, and community engagement, UMCA brings people from diverse backgrounds together to share, connect, and grow. Led by a new generation of community leaders and working closely with local councils and partners, UMCA creates inclusive platforms that empower young people, support cultural integration, and help build a more connected and multicultural Australia.

About UMCA

OUR LOGO MEANING

The UMCA logo reflects the Association’s identity, values, and vision. The upper star motif is inspired by the Southern Cross, positioned in reference to the Australian national flag, representing UMCA’s foundation in Australia and its place in the Southern Hemisphere, where guidance, growth, and opportunity are symbolised by starlight. The lower emblem is derived from Australia’s national flower, the Golden Wattle, with a form inspired by the Chinese character for “many,” symbolising multicultural diversity. The three circular elements represent unity and shared origins, expressing the integration of diverse cultures. The leaf structure subtly forms the shape of a person, symbolising a people-centred approach, connection, and collaboration. Together, the logo embodies UMCA’s belief in inclusivity, cultural harmony, and communities growing stronger together.

UMCA stands for The Union of Multicultural Australian Association:

U represents Union,

M–C represents Multicultural, and

A represents Australian.
